Electric-vehicle charging on China’s highways increased sharply during the National Day holiday, according to official data released on October 8.
Charging volume from October 1 to 7 reached approximately 163 million kilowatt-hours, averaging 23.26 million kilowatt-hours a day. The daily average was 51.42 percent higher than during the comparable holiday period a year earlier.
The increase reflects the growing role of electric vehicles in long-distance journeys and the demand placed on highway charging networks. China’s new-energy vehicle fleet reached 48.97 million vehicles, accounting for 13.19 percent of all automobiles, according to the report.
