China’s agricultural and rural modernization plan places smart farming, breeding technology and rural logistics among its priorities through 2030.

The plan sets a grain production capacity target of 725 million tonnes and seeks to raise the contribution of scientific and technological progress to agriculture to 67 percent. It also calls for food safety inspection pass rates of at least 98 percent.

Artificial intelligence, smart breeding and new-energy agricultural machinery feature among the proposed tools. Improvements to cold-chain logistics are intended to support the movement of farm products. These figures are policy objectives, whose delivery will depend on implementation across farms, research institutions and local services.
